The Green Team is not finished with the conclusion of the Algae Bioreactor Premiere Event. In an effort to motivate and encourage the next generation to pursue science related courses in high school and beyond, the Green Team has three more events in the works. In mid-December 2013, they will be presenting their research and lab demonstrations to a select group of middle school students who will be coming to the high school. In February 2014, the Green team will again present to the freshman biology classes.
In addition to these two events, the Green Team will also go on the road to the district’s three elementary schools in the spring of 2014. Talks are currently in the works which may result in a trip to two other Berks County School districts. More information on these visits will be posted as plans are finalized.
Most importantly, the Green Team will take on the challenge of educating underclassmen to take the reins of the research once the Green Team has graduated. The Green Team is a combination of the fifth and sixth generation of students to be a part of the Daniel Boone High School’s Algae Bioreactor Research Group. We hope to keep the program, and the opportunities it presents, alive for future generations to come.
